Public Meeting for Community Development Block Grant

Notice is hereby given that the City of Salem will hold a public meeting on February 28, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, City Hall, 114 North Broad Street, Salem, Virginia 24153 to solicit public input on the proposed Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) proposal to be submitted to the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development for Downtown Salem.  Residents of the project area are encouraged to attend.  The Downtown Salem proposal will include the following activities:  administration, fa├žade grants, marketing and branding, library improvements, and creation of a co-lab.

The draft CDBG proposal will be presented for comment along with information on projected beneficiaries, including the number of low- and moderate-income residents to benefit from the proposed project, and plans to minimize displacement.  A fact sheet on the proposed project and the draft proposal is available at the Office of Community Development, 21 South Bruffey Street, Salem, Virginia.  For additional information, contact Benjamin W.
