Salem City Council is currently working to secure a new city manager for the city. Longtime employee and city manager Jay Taliaferro retired on November 1, 2023, after 32 years of service to his hometown as both an engineer and an administrator. Assistant City Manager, Rob Light, is currently serving as Salem’s interim city manager until the hiring process is completed.
